The Formulation of Proclamation Text Museum

Museum Perumusan Naskah Proklamasi

The Drafting of the Proclamation Text Museum (Munasprok), is a silent witness from the Dutch and Japanese colonial periods to the era of the Indonesian independence revolution. The building, designed in Art Deco style by Dutch architect J.F.L Blankenberg in the 1920s, has a historical role as the location where the founding fathers formulated the independence proclamation script on August 16, 1945. Today, this place presents a factual narrative of important events that occurred before the proclamation of independence until after the proclamation of independence, especially important events from August 16 to 17, 1945 that can be felt through historical contemplation.

The museum holds more than a thousand original collections and historical replicas related to buildings, events, and figures around the formulation of the independence proclamation script, making it a national-level historical destination center and recognized as the zero point of the birth of the Republic of Indonesia. Among the collections are historical typewriters, pianos, independence-era radios, deathly ghost stamps, and the inauguration plaque of King George VI of the British Empire.

By continuously transforming its public services, the Munasprok has become an introduction to proclamation figures and a center for contemplation of the history of “The Founding of Indonesia”, as well as an educational and entertaining public presentation space, enriching the public's understanding of Indonesian history.
