
Semedo Museum is the sole museum situated in the vicinity of the protected forest in Tegal, Central Java. With collections featuring fossil fragments of Homo erectus, Gigantopithecus blacki, Stegodon pygmy semedoensis, and various artifacts, the Semedo Museum serves as a vital hub for prehistoric education and research. Its exhibits are meticulously curated to narrate the environmental, human, and cultural evolution of the Semedo region, providing in-depth insights into the natural and cultural history of the area.
The construction of the Semedo Museum had been started gradually since 2015 and has been operational since 2021, occupying an area of 10.582 square meters. With more than 3.100 artifacts collection, biological specimens, and geological fossils, this museum offers diverse perspectives of natural resources. Its high visitor numbers show its vital role as an education agent.
